Artist Talk with Georgia Saxelby
Thursday, March 28, 5-6:30pm
at the Miller ICA, 2FL
The artist will present her latest installation in Second Degree Vision, entitled Magic Hour, which she developed as an Artist in Residence at the Pittsburgh Glass Center, working in both the kiln shop and hot shop. Georgia's work combines glass sculptures and video projections to produce liquid, unstable, spellbinding images as light forms that explore dreamworld logics and feminist imaginaries. The artist will discuss the making of this body of work and her research into the role of glass objects in magical fiction, like the crystal ball and magic mirror, that orient their viewer towards non-rational and magical ways of seeing.
