Watfa Midani is an award-winning artist, member of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh. She received two purchase awards from the One Hundred Friends of Art in Pennsylvania.

Midani has exhibited her work in solo exhibitions at many venues, including: The Art Student League of New York, 1960; the Hewlett Gallery, 1969; the Carnegie Museum of Art, 1970-1973; Pittsburgh Plan for Art Gallery, 1971, 1975, 1977, 1980; Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, 1996; the Turkish American Association in Ankara, Turkey, 1990; Hillside Gallery in Tokyo 1984; and Beklent University in Ankara, Turkey, 1989. Midani has been invited to participate in group exhibitions including: The Associated Artist 1971, 1972; The International Play Group in New York City, 1977; Westmoreland Museum of American Art, 1978; and the Lockhaven Art Center in Orlando, Florida, 1983.

Midani has juried numerous exhibitions including those for the Health and Welfare Planning Association; The Pittsburgh Society of Artists 1980; the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society 1987; The Uniontown Regional Art Show, 1982. Her work has been selected for the Poetry on the Buses Project, supported by the National Endowment for the Arts.

Midani served as an Art Commissioner for the city of Pittsburgh from 1985-1987. Her work is represented in private collections in many cities, including: Cairo, Damascus, Ankara, Paris, Chicago, Beverly Hills, Greensburg, Los Angeles, Miami, Palm Beach, New York City, Philadelphia, Madrid, Lisbon, Mount Kisco, Williamstown, Washington D.C. and Pittsburgh. Her work is included in the collections of corporations such as Alcoa, Dansk, Ketchum, USK, Westinghouse and PPG.

Articles on Midani's work have appeared in: African Arts, Los Angeles, 1968; Al-Hilal, the crescent, Cairo, 1970; Carnegie Magazine, 1973; Colloguio Artes Lisbon, 1974; Strategies du Visual 1975; the Pittsburgher, 1973 and 1981; Architectural Digest, 1981. Essays by Jean Paris were published in Change, La Peinture, Paris, 1976 and in Lisible Visible Edition Seghers/Laffont, Paris, 1978.
